Build your own shelves out of wood (premium pine is my choice)
Not a fan of pegboard style organization?
Consider building your own shelves out of wood. With a trip to the local hardware store you can quickly pick up the wood, brackets and a few screws to build your own garage shelves in a few hours.
Premium pine boards are a great choice for simple shelves and require minimal prep work. Sure, you will pay more but they typically come pretty straight, pre-sanded and ready for stain.
TIP: Bring in your measurements and most hardware stores will even cut the boards for you at no additional charge.
For my project I was looking for a solution to organize spray paint cans, lubricants, cleaners, protectors and all the other bottled products that have cluttered up my work space. It also was quite the hassle trying to locate a specific can searching deep within cabinets.
Not anymore!
By placing all these products up on wooden shelves (labels facing OUT) it is very easy to find exactly what you are looking for. Even better, when you are done just return the can to the open spot on the shelf.
