Not all battery powered tools are created equal. At 650CFM the EGO LB6504 is one of the strongest battery powered leaf blowers currently on the market.
When searching for a new leaf blower I watched a ton of videos and read countless reviews.
After comparing at least a dozen or so different models I finally decided on the EGO LB6504 56-volt as combined the two features I was looking for.
High power and a long battery runtime.
Let me tell you, this thing is no joke.
Strongest Battery Powered Leaf Blower, EGO LB6504
A complete beast.
Battery powered tools have come a LONG way since the early days.
Using a 56-volt Lithium battery, this blower is able to hang with and even OUTPERFORM many gas powered options.
Powerful and Lightweight
Weighting in at under 13lbs, the EGO is capable of moving up to 650CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air volume.
Not only is that more powerful than many of the gas powered options you will find at most hardware stores, it is also around half the weight! Win-Win
Overall Design
The EGO LB6504 has a modern/futuristic design that reminds me of a blaster cannon from a sci-fi video game or movie. It is very well built and feels solid.
Controls are easy to use. Trigger, Variable Speed (cruise control) dial and a Turbo Button on top to unleash max power.
Ease of Use
One of the things I like most about this tool…and all battery powered tools. Is how easy to they are to use.
Just pop in the battery and pull the trigger!
The freedom and power of a gas powered machine without all the hassle. No mixing gas, no pull to start, no adjusting carburetors or worrying about winter storage.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love gas powered tools and they have their advantages in certain areas, but for most homeowners it is simply just not worth the hassle.
EGO LB6504 Battery Powered Leaf Blower Performance
The problem with battery powered tools from years ago was mainly due to poor performance and short runtimes.
Not the case with the EGO LB6504 that features a Brushless Motor and a 5.0Ah Lithium battery.

Advertising wind speeds of up to 180 Miles per Hour with over 90 minutes of runtime (15 minutes on turbo), this thing has outperformed every other blower I have used.

Clearing leaves off of a drivway…no problem
Just point and pull the trigger and leaves are gone!
EGO LB6504 Battery Powered Leaf Blower, Final Thoughts
Overall I have been very impressed with this leaf blower.
The build quality is sold, the motor is powerful and the runtime is more than enough for most around the house jobs.
So far I have been able to blow piles of both wet and dry leaves without issue. Portable but without the troubles of dealing with a gas powered backpack blower!

Gas Powered Leaf Blowers BANNED in NY?
The Village of Larchmont, located within Westchester County NY has unanimously passed on a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers that will take effective starting January 1st, 2022. – abc7 article
Now there are other states and counties that have laws limiting the use of leaf blowers between certain times of this year but this is the first complete ban in the Northeast.
Reasons for the ban
The main reasons for these bans comes down to one main thing…pollution
According to another Senate Bill S7599, introduced by John Liu. They state gas-powered leaf blowers cause pollution in three ways.
- exhaust emissions
- noise
- particulates/dust blown into the air
Do they have a point…kinda
Per the Department of Environmental Conservation website:
“Emissions from gas powered leaf blowers are substantial. The amount of CO (carbon monoxide) emitted from a typical backpack leaf blower for just 1 hour is equal to CO coming from the tailpipe of a current year automobile operating for over 8 hours. For the other pollutants, the amounts are even greater.”
Future of Gas Powered Lawn Tools
It is hard to say what the future will bring but over the past couple of years (2020/2021) there are more and more laws being proposed BANNING the use or sale of gas powered equipment.
What do you think?
Is this for the greater good of our planet or are these battery operated tools just as harmful when you consider battery mining & production?
