While some bags function great as an overall general purpose bag others are designed with a specific purpose in mind. Here are a couple tips before settling on that next purchase.
What type of tools do I plan on storing?
Generally trades like carpenters & framers will require larger power tools like battery powered drills and battery powered circular saws. With that will also come the need for storage of additional batteries and in some cases a battery charging devices. For these applications a bag with a large main tool storage compartment is usually best as you can easily stow away these large heavy tools.
Electricians, telecom service techs and low voltage specialists however typically do not have a need for large circular saws but instead require an assortment of specialty connectors and manual hand tools. In this situation a bag with many smaller tool pouches works out better for organization vs one main center compartment where everything is jumbled together.
Will this be a shop bag or travel tool bag?
